Convertable GenIII SLO?

Roughly a week back, I cut through an industrial park as a shortcut on my way to work, I saw a red taurus with a tan roof coming at me...

It passed and I looked back to see it had a convertable...I was in shock.


Today Im sitting wating to turn out onto a local busy road (rt 59) which is less than 5 minutes from where I had seen it before, and I see it pass me again!! But this time I got a full side view, It looks damn near stock...But there arent any convertable taurus's are there...?

This thing is irritating me...Its bothering me becuase its so factory looking, yet cannot be. It even looked like it was a 2 door! but Im pretty sure its not..LOL

Any help guys?

to it wasn't a convertable (unless he made it onw) but the sables were offered with a cloth roof which fooled me when i first saw it.

They weren't offered with one (from what I understand), dealers added them on.
