Here's the latest news:

"Don just called me from Madison and asked me to post this.

When he booked the convention he was told the hotel would have lots of empty rooms. Well somebody else has another convention at the same time and the same hotel now and rooms are scarce.

Don persuaded them to hold the last 5 rooms for us but when they are gone that is it.

If you want to attend the convention and have not made your rez you need to do that ASAP,

Buford"

I just called and made a reservation. All they've got left are suites and they're going for $159 or thereabouts. I believe there were only 5 left.

If you still need a room I suggest you try another hotel. I've used www.expedia.ca (or .com) with good results before. You might want to try it.

A few of us from the V8 mailing list are staying the Fairfield Inn by Marriott (Madison West, there's two in Madison).

They're charging $69 a night but if you use expedia.com you can get it for $59 a night.

The host hotel is only a quarter mile away according to mapquest.com. That's only 14.9 seconds away for me :)

I booked my room at the Comfort Suites on John Q Hammons Dr. in Madison.

Rooms there are running $89 per night, you might get one cheaper if you have AAA.

Yeah, but that's only for one trip.....this rest of the trips are over 15 seconds!!

Plus, don't play "Kirk"..1/4 mile times are to the hundredths. When I see 14.9, I assume 14.99.

I will post this carefull, but I have a spot left in my room at the Marriott. Dave Garber dropped out due to work duties, and John Semchena ("Non-SHO Drag Champ" in 2002!!) has been "upgraded" to the second bed. There is one spot left on the cot (room + cot price split 3-ways).

I reserve the right to accept/reject any candidates! Last year we had Ransom, but he may be with a "friend" this year!!

E-mail me privately if interested.

You assumed wrong then. Try 14.966 :D

There's more 14 seconds slips in the car. It may take a real mod or two to get there. I've got a handful of 15.0's and a UDP set to install.

No, I didn't assume wrong......you didn't specify.

When the car can turn a sub-15-second time with all the seats in, and can do it with a 150-220-pound driver in any temp from 40-80 Farenheit, then we call it a 14-second car.

If I srip out my seats, doors, trunk and hood....I have a 13-second car.
