I've never used nitrous on a car ever:) But now i'm considering it. I was against it for sometime. Until I read a while back that if it is done right you will not damage your engine.
I'm sure I can find all the answers to the questions I will have, but i'd like to see some input from people that run nitrous on a stock motor.
I just have an old performance y pipe with gutted cats a dynomax cat back, and a fram air hog (unfortuanately). I just finished it's first 60k and 100k.
It's also my dd, that's one of the things holding me back.

I had the ZEX dry kit, which is what you'll need. I only ran a 50 shot, but a lot of ppl here run a 75 shot on their stock engines, and have no problems. I really liked it, but it just costs so much to fill the tank up. It got old to me after a while, and I sold it.
I don't mean to discourage you, it was definantly fun to have! Good luck!

If it costs that much, i'd rather run it in my other car i'd enjoy it more. I'll check into local prices.

Nitrous remember is illegal for street use. But people still use it.

(1) No person shall drive or permit to be driven on a highway a motor vehicle equipped with a nitrous oxide fuel system unless,

(a) the part of the nitrous oxide fuel system comprising the canister, bottle, tank or other store of nitrous oxide is completely disconnected from the other parts of the system;

(b) the disconnection can be observed by looking at the interior or exterior of the motor vehicle; and

(c) the disconnected parts cannot be reconnected from the driver or passenger seats.

Sample inspection

(2) A police officer exercising his or her powers under section 82 may take or cause to be taken a sample of any substance from a motor vehicle to determine whether or not the motor vehicle contains nitrous oxide.

Seizure and disposal of nitrous oxide

(3) A police officer exercising his or her powers under section 82 may,

(a) remove nitrous oxide, or the part of the nitrous oxide fuel system comprising the canister, bottle, tank or other store of nitrous oxide, from a vehicle and dispose of them, or cause their removal and disposal, at the cost and risk of the driver and owner, who are jointly and severally liable; or

(b) order the driver or owner of the vehicle to remove nitrous oxide, or the part of the nitrous oxide fuel system comprising the canister, bottle, tank or other store of nitrous oxide, from a vehicle and dispose of them appropriately.

Deemed service

(4) Service of an order under clause (3) (b) to the driver of the vehicle shall be deemed to be service on the owner of the vehicle.

Offence

(5) Every person who contravenes or fails to comply with subsection (1) or an order of a police officer under clause (3) (b) is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of not less than $500 and not more than $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both.

Found this on a Legal website for NY. From what I have seen pretty much standard everywhere.

Nitrous is suppose to be for track use only. I have heard of too many people that get picked up for not

 I've been driving my car around with a bottle in it for years....

Lucky!

A guy I was friends with at one time messaged me today about what just happened to him yesterday. In MN its license suspension, $5k fine, and/or 9mo's jail time. He got 120 hrs community service, license suspended for 9 months, and the full $5k fine. On top of that, his car was impounded for 3 days and he had to pay over $900 to get it out.

I noticed this thread and with what happened to him I thought I'd just give a warning to everybody, check your local laws.

There's nothing wrong with having the bottle in the car in MN, just has to be disconnect and not able to reconnect from the passenger area of the car.

So I guess i am just being more informational than anything.

He had his in his back seat, I know stupid right? But he ain't the best brick holding up the house...He "upgraded" from a fully tuned and set up 5.0 mustang(he purchased it already done), and then wanted to go to twin turbos (never having worked with turbo's before) but never got it working right and instead added nitrous (and he said he was running 175 on the supercharger set up w/o the supercharger). He is one of those guys who can't be beat, even though last time I saw him driving he still couldn't drive a stick shift work crap.

Thanks for the heads up, but i'm not worried about getting caught. I would leave it connected.
Most people don't know the ammount of rights they have and what to say when a cop tries to search your car.
Around here in one town especially they take advantage.
Twice I let the cops search my car because I had places to be, and both times they had no good reason. Both times they said I had a loud exhaust. Twice was in a stock 93 impreza wagon with a leak free exhaust, the others in the sho which is quiet too.

I went across the canadian border/US a few times to go play with Josh at the drags, with a couple of loaded nitrous tanks. No issues, was only held up for a few mins for the usual border crossing 20 questions (how quick does it run in the 1/4, how much hp, what suspension you got on it, etc)
