Sorry, but if you want an SHO, you'll be in the market for a '99 or earlier. The SHO was discontinued in 1999 despite the fact that the third generation Taurus was built until 2000.
Only SHO's built for model years 1996-1999 had a V8 engine and there were a total of approximately 20,000 built for all four years.
The website V8SHO.com should be able to answer any questions you have regarding history, specifications, build quantity, maintenance, etc. regarding these unique vehicles.
I agree with you as a addition to the list of Generation III SHO owners that these cars are unlike any other (I traded in my 2001 Mustang GT for my '98 SHO- would do it again in a heartbeat!)
Good luck in your search for the perfect SHO. (And make sure to read long and hard about the camshaft concerns on V8SHO.com before you go shopping!)
