I was getting a 173, so I replaced the plugs a couple of days ago and reset everything, idle etc. Got a CE light, again when cold, pulled codes 211,173 and 542. Now upon searching found that 211 is the cps, however usually both banks give a rich code. Also, it looks like the cps is associated with driveabilty problems, which I am not having. The car has been stalled since reseting, hence the 542 I think, but it was due to ***** (left the e-brake on) not on it's own. She goes like stink, idles fine. Changing the plugs did help make warm up a little quicker but thats it. The wires, ETC, thermostat and O2 sensors are new, however not sure about the CPS. From searching it looks like an electrical problem, mabye a ground? Wierd thing is I don't detect a miss or stumble or anything either. So basically I have codes but no noticable syptoms. These codes came up on the key on engine off, after the 1 flash. Before the flash was just a 111, and with the engine on just got the 111. I pulled the twice just to be sure. Also, like before, the CE light only came on when really cold out, and went off when car warmed up. Sorry for the long post just wanted to have all the info up front.

Thanks

Mike,

The code only indicates that at one time, if only for one second, the crank sensor did not supply the EEC with a code.

Try reseting your codes, driving the car for a couple of days, and running them again.

Also, keep an eye on the tach. If it ever drops and pops back up, this would also indicate a problem.

Good luck!

Why did you change the plugs when the 173 code points to a non-switching O2 sensor? Since only one of the two O2 sensors was showing this problem, the chances are that the rear bank O2 sensor is having problems. Keep your eye on the CHECK ENGINE light and tachometer if the engine cuts out. Your CPS is propably living out its twilight days.

I changed the plugs because even though they had only about 3k on them they were really dirty, I cleaned and regapped them when I did the wires but I just had this nagging feeling, and since I had replaced everything else I figured might as well. I thought also since the O2 sensors were new, and I pulled the rear one out and made sure it wasn't fouled, that mabye the dirty plugs were giving a weak spark causing the rich code.

Thanks
