All right...at an intersection my car died! It was idling fine, just like always. Suddenly it dies just as it would if you turned the key off. When I tried to start it it cranked but would not turn over. Twenty minutes later when cops were around me directing traffic with a tow truck on the way...it started! I felt like a fool as I drove off. Any ideas? It's an MTX but i dont think that has anything to do with it. It has been running fine since(two days ago.). Just weird...

I had that problem last summer, it was my crank position sensor. The sensor would get shorted out from my leaking water pump (sucked to remove!!), and then the cpu would lose track of the crank and instantly shut the car off. Also, check you fuel filter and injectors.

A common problem is often the DIS module on the side of your plenum. I don't know if that would apply in this case though.

It is definatley the CPS!! I had the same problem. Alot of time if fails because you have a leaking water pump. Make sure to change that to if it is leaking!

100% guaranteed it is your CPS(Crank Position Sensor). As already stated, it is due to you waterpump leaking onto the CPS. Sometimes it will dry off after a short time and the car will start again. Soon after the first time this happens your car will die permanently so I would get it fixed quick.

The DIS is RARELY the problem with any SHO electrical problem. Vadim at SS has said he has seen 2, maybe 3 failures.

I have a similar problem, where my car won't immediately start after it has been parked for a few hours. It cranks but doesn't neccessarily catch. Any Clues? also how do you check the water pump and cps?

My CPS seems to be fine, at least for now. Oddly enough, I did have to replace the DIS module this past summer. It may be a rare failure, but it does happen.

I'm sorry. Maybe I was wrong, but it has happened to me twice on two different SHO's.
