I am puzzled. Last night after work, I jumped in my car to notice that the Climate Control, turn signals, and rear defroster were dead. I pulled fuse #5 (15 Amp) and it was blown.

manual say this fuse controls:

-Backup Lamps
-Climate Control
-Hazard Flashers
-light for keyless entry
-rear defroster

I did not check the Backup lamps, but I know the hazards worked just fine. The turn signals were dead. It also seems like the light for keyless entry was OK too.

Anyone have any insight? So far I blew 4 fuses within about 60 miles of driving. The systems work OK for a while, and then suddenly blow. The only connection I can see is that they blew when I hit the brakes. Not everytime I hit the brakes, but ocassionally.

I am really stumped. Help! It's cold out and I am running out of 15 Amp fuses!

Greg,

If the fuse blows after using the brakes, there has to be a short in the brake lamp circuit. It could be the switch on the brake pedal (BOO switch) or even a damaged bulb. You will need to use a multimeter to track down the short to chassis ground.

Scott,

That's interesting. I was guessing the brakes, but here is someting weird. About 2 weeks ago, the right rear bkare bulb was out and the LAMP OUT dash light had come on. The next day the condition went away. Sounds like maybe something wierd is going on with the brake light circuit. I also noticed that the high mounted brake lamp harness was getting crushed in the trunk hinge. I have since fixed this and replaced the fuse. Let's see what happens.

Thanks.
