First and foremost, make sure all maintenance is up to date, then upgrade the suspension and brakes, and get the equal length y-pipe, the only power upgrade worth buying for the 89.

Nope finance isn't the problem at all but my car has the y-pipe and catback exhaust, and the only problems I'm having with it is the Valve cover gaskets and the MAF sensor, I will get to it soon though.

You doing the gaskets yourself? Be careful, aluminum bolts and female threads are softer than you think when you tighten it back up. MAF is easy.

Yea I am. I have to buy a torque wrench though. I have the shop manual for the motor.
