About noon on Tuesday the driver of a Ford 150 truck realized that he was pulling out in to my '92 SHO and in a moment of panic slammed down the accelerator rather than the brake. The consequences are 1) he was charged with "failure to yield the right-of-way" 2) his insurance company is threatening to total my car, and 3) I need a passenger-side front door. (My car has 231K miles on it and at 11:45AM Tuesday it had no dents or scratches and had never been in an accident). Can I use a Gen 1 door? Can I use a Taurus SLO door, assuming I'm willing to put up with some disinformation on it like "GL"?
I see that insurance scams go both ways. What's really irksome is that I swerved way out in to the other lane of traffic, so that if the other driver had just kept coming without trying to brake, I think I would have avoided his accident for him.
