About noon on Tuesday the driver of a Ford 150 truck realized that he was pulling out in to my '92 SHO and in a moment of panic slammed down the accelerator rather than the brake. The consequences are 1) he was charged with "failure to yield the right-of-way" 2) his insurance company is threatening to total my car, and 3) I need a passenger-side front door. (My car has 231K miles on it and at 11:45AM Tuesday it had no dents or scratches and had never been in an accident). Can I use a Gen 1 door? Can I use a Taurus SLO door, assuming I'm willing to put up with some disinformation on it like "GL"?
I see that insurance scams go both ways. What's really irksome is that I swerved way out in to the other lane of traffic, so that if the other driver had just kept coming without trying to brake, I think I would have avoided his accident for him.

gen 2 door will work for sure

gen 1 door ... donno ... did they use the same handle and key pads

and the bottom part of the door is just a cladding, easily swapped out for a proper SHO piece

dont let them total your car, argue up the price, then (if need be) argue down the repair costs to the EDGE of totaled ... unless you dont care about a salvage title, then just argue up the cars value, take the check and repair the car on the cheap, pocket the rest of the $

just beacuse they totaled your car does NOT mean they own it, you have every right to keep the car if you so desire, they just kinda "sell" it back to you at a small price (my 95 s10 w/ 70k miles and a mashed front end was gonna be $200)

remember, the car doesnt belong to the Ins co till you sign the title and hand it to them

gen 1 door ain't gonna work....period....end of discussion.

Just get any old gen 2 door, yank the cladding off and stick the SHO cladding on. Just make sure the new door has the same kind of electronics (power windows and locks).
