So first of all i wanna say thanks to all the tips on putting on a tranny cooler. All my friends though i was crazy cause i have a car not a truck, but my car shifts better and to my surprise its taken away the TQ locking and unlocking on the freeway so much. Works well and i have all the SHOguys to thank for that.

Anyways on to business, im looking at replacing all the coils on my car, it has 115,000 on it with the original coils. The cheapest i can find is at autozone for $72 bucks a pieces. Checked, Rockauto, AdvanceAuto and Napa. Anyone have any problems with the duralast? are there any better deals out there that i haven't found through searching?

No need!

When I first bought my car, I changed the plugs..(of course.)
Before I changed them, I drove the snot out of it. When I changed them, the
rear 3 ranged from .054 to .068.. Not horrible. THEN I did the front 3... WOW.
The best one was .090, the worst was .096!!:oogle: SO, if the stock coils can
pull 7,000 rpm's at .096, I can not see any improvement in a n.a. application.
Normally I would say yes to new coil(s), but the stock is fine up to 8,000 (don't ask how I know.) So, unless you are adding nitrous, or boost, spend your money on something else you need/want.

Just a quick question. What will replacing the coils help with? I'm having some rough idle issues with mine, would this help?

well i have a bit of a rough idle and when the car is floored it takes a while to get there, it doesn't shift past 6K which is puzzling me and making me think theres a weak coil or something. Ive replaced a lot, FPR, EGR, all four o2's, motorcraft plugs all 8, run mobil 1 oil, tranny cooler, tranny flushed, coolant flushed pretty much everything thing i can think of and it still runs outta breath up top and shifts at 6, doesn't get there as quick as videos ive seen of v8 SHOs on youtube. i also raced a guy in a v8 sho and he beat me pretty good too, it wasn't even close...so im thinkin the coils are next to replace

Weird.. I just beat a 03 Cobra off the line the other night.. although I don't know what the **** he was doing, cause that's a phenomenon right there :p

But I have shifted at about 71k RPM's, was my best anyways. Everything stock.

Coil(s)

Unless you have a bad one, (very noticeable) then 99% of the time they are
not a factor in idle/driveability issues. Clean your maf, and your IAC. Check your plugs. Clean your EGR nostrils and passages. Check your tps with a voltmeter,
or some auto parts stores can check them for you for free. Lots of things can affect idle. I unfortunately, have experienced several of them... Good luck.

i am talking about a v8 with the coils on the plugs which arent as reliable as seperate coils and plug wires.....reading what u wrote because v6's and v8's are pretty different as far as design...
