Weird thing though, I drove 80-ish miles without any issues the other day. Then I go from my place, to Orange, then to LAX without any issues (about 40-ish miles), but when I go from LAX to my friends place (10 miles), it all goes to **** on the way. Coming home after having the car off for a couple hours, it started acting up only after about 20 minutes, and did so the entire way home (40 miles).

I'd start looking for a bad harness or connector somewhere. Quite a few months ago, I worked on one that had intermittent issues sort of like this. Turned out to be a bad connector/harness at the coil pack.

Thanks...

You know, my CCRM did fry recently, so I'm wondering if it took out, other than the fuel pump, some stuff with it. I wish I could turn my car into a jet and come over to NESHO.

And I wish I had the dough to fly out there... I could use a vacation.

When you say fried CCRM, what happened? Stuck relay?

Ok, confirmed that this isn't a misfire, but it idles like a 454 with a giant cam when warm which causes hesitation below 3500rpm, and it starts drinking gas like Ryan Dunn drinks alcohol before driving home.

Chris, yes I have. That was when I wasn't getting any power to the front o2 sensor, and an injector wasn't working.

maybe the injectors don't want to shut off once they are hot.....? something like that could result in both lean and rich codes being set - the pcm could adjust the fuel trims way down when the car is hot and then its too lean when cold. just a crazy idea.....

So are you suggesting I should still swap the PCM?

I would do the pcm first, if you can find a pcm to swap.

Yup, mine is worse with the a/c on...but only after a fair amount of driving.

the 93 pcm will work (its wired the same) but the shift programming is reportedly better on the 94+

Ladies and Gents we have found the issue. Marcel, and another friend had alternator. Marcel suggest to check the voltage when warm. So I pulled out the voltmeter and tested when cold: 13.8 and then climbed to 14.2-5. I then drove around for 30 minutes and checked again: 12.3 and slowly falling. Soooooo, time to lifetime warranty this alternator! I think when my CCRM went out, the short landed at the voltage regulator.

Quick update:

...and after 3 bad O'Reilly ones, I ended up with a rebuilt Motorcraft. Works perfect, and after replacing the rear o2 sensor, the car drives awesome.
