I was getting a code 49. The suggested fix is to replace the DIS. I installed one from AC Delco (couldn't find Ford/Motorcraft type). Code 49 went away.
When first starting the car and idling, the rpm would race up to 2000, sit there for anywhere between 5 sec and 30 sec or not budge at all, then rpms drop to normal (900rpm read off the gauge) then slightly below and start "chugging". Then an oscillatory behavior between normal rpm and sounds fine to chugging.
No codes yet
Thought perhaps I needed a new IAB and replaced with a Ford one. Checked codes and received 49, 51, 81.
81 code says problem with boost control solenoid. Where is this? It's not the solenoid on the IAB is it?
I'm assuming the 49 code showing up again is perhaps caused by the 81 code.
In any event I'd like to solve the 81 code error first and see if 49 code goes away.
I don't have my wiring diagrams with me.
How do I fix an 81 code error?
Thanks.
