Hmmm.... what are you doing with a Gen 1 that has an EGR? is it a cali car?

if it isnt, you have some issues.

The first, i would guess because you have not been able to start the engine... that means it isnt warm so it cant read codes correctly? Or maybe you have a bad MAF... You have any other spares layin around?

The last could of been from a time you stalled the engine when starting from a stop. I dont think any of this would cause a no start issue... lead alone a crank sensor problem

Check for fuel pressure at the rails.

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you first switch the key to the "on" position?

Or a faulty DIS module, or maybe a bad ground somewhere.

There's a whole bunch of things that can cause a "no spark" condition. All of these, including the CPS, are on the list of possibles.

The diagnostic that Rockledge pointed to has the answers. If you don't have the techical knowledge or equipment to follow the diagnostic, you'll need to either find someone who can do it for you or you'll need to do the needed learning yourself.

Of course, you just start hanging parts on the engine and see if you get lucky.
