http://dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html I just learned out how to do it last night, not too hard, you just need a wire. There is also a howto at shotime. The instructions were confusing to me at first, since it looks like you need a voltmeter or something to read the codes. You don't, you just hook the two leads together with a wire and go watch the check engine light.
good luck, and stop worrying so much, you'll muddle through.

if youre looking for the hook up, it should be on the left side of the engine (battery side) towards the back of the bay by the strut housing. thats what your looking for right? or were you talking about something different? I think it may be behing that plastic cover which also covers the A/C lines, mines ripped off so i dunno.

The Self Test connector is located on the wiring harness, near the firewall, right above the cam position sensor.

Sometimes the connector falls down behind the engine, and in worst cases, gets against the exhaust manifold, and melts.

Mine was up against the firewall on the passenger side, kinda hidden under another harness.

On a related subject, I ran the cylinder balance test, and I swear the code it gave me was 9 when it was done. If that is a legit code, does it mean, A-OK or "none of the cyliders are working, you are driving around on the starter motor"
