:dribble:I had some problems with the way my engine was running. narrowed it down to the MAF and now runss great at idle and excelleration no problems engine wise. Scoop, i have to renew my tabs this year. Washington State emissions testing is now by reading EEC codes not exhaust testing and such. I have some codes that I need to remedy. My steering sucks. Code #1(52). The wheel shakes at idle and the car sweerve left and right while getting on it from a stop. The wheel shakes about an inch. of travel left and right. while driving down the road. The code states power steering pressure switch opened or closed. where is the switch and does it maybe need to be cleaned out or is the connector corroded possibally. Code #2(11) Why is this even recorded? It states Sysytem Passed. Code #3(22). BP or MAP sensor out of self test range. Where are these located and what is the most likely problem with these? Code #4(41). No HEGO switching detected. What the **** is this Hego thing? Code #5(77). No WOT seen in self test or operator error. Code #6(99). EEC has not learned to control idle. It idles great and has no other engine running problems that I can tell. I read the codes manually. And have dissconected the battery for the night and re-read the codes that state the same as above. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much!:dribble:

If you perform the idle reset procedure, that should cure your '99' code.

The 41 code says that the rear bank is lean and the O2 sensor is not switching. This is likely due to a bad O2 sensor, but also can be caused by an air leak in the exhaust manifold, or possibly by an intake vacuum leak on the rear side of the intake.

The 22 code says the BP is out of the self test range - this is due to a bad wire/connector or a bad sensor.

The 52 code is likely due to a bad wire/connector or pressure switch on the rack. Given your description of the symptoms related to steering, I'm guessing you have more issues than just the switch - other things to check include the rack, tie rod ends, ball joints, etc. to see where you have play.

x2, looks like he has all the answers :p

You're wasting your time - you get a dyno and gas cap test since you don't have OBDII (1996 and newer).

Really depends on your state. Rules here just changed this year to be stricter then they used to be. Last year I pasted with flying colors, this year, failed miserably because the new rules.

I don't pull my information out of a hat, I looked at HIS state's requirements; something he (and you) should have done first.

Maybe the OP actually wants to fix the car and make it run like it should......

Read his post. He was stressed out because he thought he had to have codes read.

Of course, underlying fault conditions that are causing the emissions-related codes will also likely cause him to fail the dyno test. His emphasis was on the wrong aspect and he was mis-interpreting a variety of things, including any perceived requirement for code testing for his vehicle.
