I keep getting a 528 code. My computer is telling me that its a clutch position sensor but when I searched for it people are saying that its the a/c. So whats the fix for this? I also get a 452 code which my computer pulls up saying its the speed sensor. I'm guess I just get this code because my speedometer gear is broken i think. Also for anyone that know how can i pull it out. I tried using a screw driver in the slot but its not working and i even heated the outside of the tranny around the area. Is there anyone other ways to get it out..... maybe a slide hammer? or will that break it?

Give us a little more info to go on here guy. We need to know the year of your car a well as whether it's ATX or MTX. You don't say and it's not in your profile though I know it's a Gen II because you're getting 3 digit codes. Help us a little so we can help you.

If it's an MTX you have to take the screw out of the case before you can remove the speedo drive gear from the case. Likely is not your problem though, is more than likely the VSS sensor that attaches to that.

For code information check on SHOTimes.com.

Also, I don't see a code 528 listed on SHOTimes, are you sure you read the code right?

The VSS drive gear can be a bugger to get out of the case because it likes to collect all sorts of road crap around it. Once you get the screw out you should be able to use a screw driver to pry up in the slotted area. Be very careful if you get it to move because garbage likes to fall into your tranny once it is removed. So clean it up well before you take it all the way out. Also be aware that the little rubber o-rings that keep it sealed are obsolete from Ford so be careful not to damage them. It would be a good idea to use a little anaerobic sealant on them when you put it back in.

If the VSS drive gear is fine and the VSS is new then you might have an issue with the speedo cable itself. You might want to remove it and try another one to see if it works.

You could take the car down to Advance Auto parts or another place similar and they usually will run the codes for free.
