So I installed dual piston HD PBR calipers on a set of 13 inch rotors and earls SS brake lines; only problem is that the pads fit too tight on the rotor so it's like trying to move the car with the e-brake set. Should I have the rotors ground down a bit? Never ran into this problem before. For now, they look real cool under my 17 inch rims :). Thanks.

Are you sure the rotors are matched to the caliper? Don't different thickness rotors require different calipers or brackets to seat properly? Also make sure the caliper pistons are pushed all the way back in. I had a tight fitment problem before and had to press the pistons back again to get it to fit right.

What pads did you put on there? Some vendors sell different pad thicknesses to match rotor thickness in a given caliper, but I'm not sure that I've heard of this for the PBRs.

Also, did you push the pistons _all the way_ back into the calipers when you installed the pads?

A PBR caliper with fresh pads on a 1.1" rotor should be pretty comfy...

I am using 13 inch re-drilled Cobra Rotors with the motorcraft pads that came with the calipers. I used the wrong banjo bolt, so I need to change that out and then I think I'm just going to go on a couple short trips and hope they wear down. If they don't.... well, I don't know, lol. The pistons are fully compressed.

I just ran into a problem like this on a suburban at my shop. I installed a set of front brakes, all looked good. But when I applied pressure to the rotor ( by bolting the wheel on, or just running a lug against the rotor itself ) I would get a locked up brake sensation. The front pads were locked on. To make a long pain in the *** story short. It ended up that I had a set of mis-machined rotors. They were the wrong ones, right from the box. You may want to get some specs on what size the rotors should be, how thick, hub size, etc...

I think if you go try and drive around, you are going to just glaze up your new pads and rotors.
