Can anyone tell me what year/model I can get these brakes off of? Or are they an upgrade even for the mustang, and don't come stock on anything?

Thanks.

You can get them off of any Cobra SVT mustang, and now I think the Bullitt mustangs come with these 13" front brakes.

FWIW, I saw a camaro with the factory 1LE brakes and they looked identical. Same as on the 'vette, also, but I'm not sure about the rotor bolt pattern. The calipers looked the same, however.

Remember that none of these applications are a bolt on for the SHO because of the rotor bolt pattern - you will have to find someone to CNC machine the rotors for you.

Yeah, I knew about that. But if that is the case, then like you said about the camaro, vette, those might work too, since they will have to be redrilled anyway.

Thanks

I know this much for sure, 94+ Cobra all have the 13" front kit, bullits have the 13" kit as well as the Mach cars...

As far the GM vehicles go, the do use some of the same calipers as ford, all being built by PBR. I think the camaro SS/TA WS-6 had the same calipers, however, I would imagine that the brackets would be different...

GM F-bodies and Y-Bodies have a 5x4.75 bolt pattern.

possibly a more cost effective route may be the 99+ mustang brake upgrade, as they switched to twin pistion aluminum units for this year. This was the cars for all models besides the cobra.

1. The mustang bolt pattern is different anyway, so either one would have to be machined to 5x108. But that is good info that they are the same.

2. Were all 99+ brakes 13" Or just twin piston w/ smaller rotor?

Thanks

Stay away from the '99 and newer Mustang brakes parts. What you want is a stock '94-01 Cobra 13.0" front brake setup; capilers, mounting brackets, pads and rotors. Same pieces parts were also found on the '88-96 Corvettes with 13.0" HD front brakes. The calipers and pads are also the same as found on the '88-92 Camaro/Firebird 1LE cars, but they used a smaller 12.0" rotor and different mounting brackets. PBR was the vendor for all these parts. Baer uses these same components in they kits.

99 and up use a 13" rotor, below 99 they used a smaller rotor.

anyone doing this use 99 and up stuff.

half-way there, I think.
My understanding from one of the SHO guru's is that the Baer kit for the SHO uses Vette rotors.

Edit 8-19-02: Of course they are redrilled for the proper ug pattern.

The C4 Corvette has a 5 x 4.75" lug pattern. The Cobra has a 5 x 4.5" lug pattern. Either of these PBR 13" rotors can be used on a '94-95 Taurus front hub once the rotor is machined for the Taurus 5 x 4.25" lug pattern.
