Well, last night my SHO's clutch decided it had had enough and now it no longer releases at all. I had to have it towed home. Fortunately, I have one of Mikey's Stage I kits in my living room, and a few other parts from Josh @ SHONUT are on the way (including the clutch replacement video).

I've decided to go with the "pipe" version of the engine support since I have some good stock lying around that I can use. I'm in the process of eyeballing everything so that I know where I need to drill holes, etc., but what I can't figure out is where on the engine I'm going to be attaching the rear support chain. Having had the intake off a few times I know how tight it is back there, especially with the heater hoses in the way and all that. So, as I said, I'm looking behind there but can't really see where I'm supposed to be hooking up to. Is there some kind of trick to this that I'm missing?

TIA

What I do is run two chains, one from the driver's rear intake tank strap bolt to the bolt securing the intake to the front head (by the IAC), and for the second I run between the two bolts securing the crossover tube.

When you get the Clutch Video, it'll show you an option for the rear. IIRC, there's like 2 or 3 extra threaded holes on the back bottom of the rear head or top of the block, and on the drivers side. Also, from what I remember watching, certain years had a different sized thread, I think one M10 and the other M8 or something.

IIRC, it's an M10. That's what I use, too.

To find it, drop a string or something between the heater hoses straight down behind the rear head. Near the bottom of the head is an unused bolt hole. You can drill a hole in a plate or something and then connect a chain up to your support. It's not hard to access it from underneath, especially once the Y-pipe is out.

correct, earlier heads had smaller holes
the factory did make a bracket that attaches to those 3 holes, it can also be made at home with a minimal of fuss.
some shops just loop a 1/8" steel cable down under tyhe oil pan and back up, make sure you have some real good crimps at the ends of that cable
