Just recently my clutch has been acting really strange. It started with the petal 'rattling' when I got over 3000rpm's. It sounds like it is related to the exhaust, mine is pretty loud:evilgrin: Anywho then the clutch starts wanting to 'throw itself' back at me. It sort of feels like slamming on your brakes in the snow or rain when the ABS kicks in...only this is coming from the clutch.

Now I have also noticed the imfomous "shiny spot" on the front of my intake. Although it seems to feel normal, could that be the cause of my clutch acting up? Or is there something else that I should be worried about?

P.S. I have a 94 mtx w/ 122k (some 60k maint) BUT a fully rebuilt tranny w/ clutchmasters stg3 & 9lb. fidanzza flywheel @ 100k.

Or both mounts, neither is too hard to do. The tricky part is getting the rear out. To help, grind or cut off the last 1/4"-3/8" off od the stud that goes through the subframe.

I had a shiny spot on mine as well, and shifts were starting to get stiffer and stiffer, and it was starting to wear on the powdercoating on the intake. I had a couple reinforced, and poured with urethane. They are much stiffer, better shifts, and with it a little more engine vibrations.

With the milage you have, motor mounts are porbably due, mine had about 110k on it when I replaced them.

The rear mount has already been replaced with the extreme reinforced mount from SHO Bros. when I had the tranny replaced. He didn't want to do the front one though b/c it involved draining the radiator. I still have the mount though. The same guy who rebuilt my tranny and installed the clutch + flywheel looked at it for me and seems to be pretty sure that one of the springs on the presure plate of the clutch shifted/broke, causing a "finger" on the top of the clutch to rub the flywheel.

However I am going to mention to him to check the front motor mount first. Going into this a little further I researched my cluch on clutchmasters.com and they only had 1 clutch listed for the SHO, which was the same price as I paid for mine, and was listed as stock/ OEM replacement, which really makes me really mad if that's the case b/c I SPECIFICLY requested a Stage III and now I'm thinking I got a stock OEM replacement. Either way I spoke with a REP. on the phone and he seemed pretty optimistic...so we'll see. (if in fact it is the clutch & not just the motor mount)

UPDATE!

So I have the clutch out and it is wooped! It's pretty much all used up. It acctually got hot enough to score the alum. flywheel. This was a "clutchmasters stg. 3" and I'm NOT impressed! 14 months/22k and it's toast. I'm not boosted and I only have a few bolt-ons. Also I've never done a burnout, although I do get into it, as I'm sure all of us do.

Has anyone else had a problem with these? Do they have a bad rep, or is it just my driving habits?
