This weekend if all goes right I am planning on changing the clutch. I got the engine support built and all. I think I am all set. Just one thing I need to know Is how high off the ground does the car need to be to have room to remove the sub frame and tranny?

Pretty much far enough down to be able to drop the subframe, tranny, y-pipe, etc. and to allow you some working room underneath.

Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out.
(dangit.....I thought I had at least a week to find your place and snag that flywheel! )

I don't remember the exact height in clearance you need for removing the tranny, but I jack it up as far as the jack will go on the front of the subframe and then place my jackstands under the car. It should give you enough clearance to remove the tranny.

I did the same as Erik B. I probably lifted the car 18"... I lifted the rear end up as well, not sure if it was really necessary, but i was doing other work as well.

Here is a tip for ya
Once I had the trans loose (but still resting on the dowels) I lowered the entire engine (using threaded rod on the engine support) down until the oilpan was about 4" inches off the ground, this made removal and installation of the trans much easier and quicker. Obviously make damn sure you disconnect everything - especially the heater core lines.
Now is also a good time to install a drain plug in the MTX. Its quite easy and only takes about 20 min to complete. See the writeup on shotimes.com
