i just did a clutch job on my 90. i opted to drop the subframe. i started with the suspension. this is all from memory so bear with me. remove wheels, remove brakes hang to the side, disconnect swaybar endlinks from the top, pop out ball joint, disconnect tierod, unbolt strut from hub i dont think you have to but i took the hubs out. remove pass axle, disconnect driver axle from hub, remove y pipe, disconnect shifter, disconnect ps cooler and cruse unit from sub frame, disconnect and remove starter, sling motor, disconnect motor and trans mounts from sub frame, take it slow and remove the four bolts to the sub frame.
once the sub frame is out disconnect all the brackets on the trans. i just unbolted them and moved em to the side. disconnect the clutch cable. to do this you'll need 2 people. have one person lift up on the clutch pedal and another pull on the cable at the fork. disconnect the speedo cable and sensor plug. get a jack under the trans, unbolt it and wiggle it out. use a trans jack or fab up a plate for your floor jack. the trans is unstable on a regular floor jack and could fall on you easily. ask me how i know lol. good thing its not that heavy. now the trans it out YAY your half way there!
i think you'll have it from there. while your down there, check the rear main. install new clutch and reverse process.
it took me about 7hr by myself with some extra muscle and eyes here and there to do that job plus dropping the pan to do the rear main and re-seal the pan. the job was done in a fully equipped shop with air and this wasn't my first rodeo. its pretty straight forward, just takes time. i enjoyed most of the process and knowing YOU did the job yourself is satisfying. so long as you get it right the first time lol. remember, there's never enough time to do it right, but there's always enough time to do it again.
hope that helped you out
