Hello ! I don't have a problem right now -- just a question. Last year my mechanic installed a new clutch in my very good 1991 SHO ( ~ 76,000 miles ) but said it was the last one available in the entire country and I must be very careful how I use it. Is this correct -- that when this wears out, nothing more is available? I would like to sell the car, but don't want to saddle a new owner with a big potential problem.

If they were referring to a stock OEM Ford clutch, then that might be a true statement. However, there are aftermarket clutches that are still available.
If you only want an OEM clutch, you could post in the "Want to buy section" to see if anyone has a spare one. I picked one up a few years ago and the others sold soon after.

I got the Sound Bend stage 2 clutch, along with the ceramic throw out bearing. Works very well, and perfect for last 7 years. Only put about 20k miles on it though as I don't drive the sho that much.

My friend find Valeo clutch for some korean (diesel i think) car and Toyota pressure plate. It's very cheap and strong
