No reservoir since there is no hydraulic clutch. It's a cable clutch.

For the tranny, on the other hand....

Remove the screw plug on the front of the tranny with a 3/8" drive ratchet and extension.

Unless you know exactly where it is, you will have to go from the bottom and find it. It is facing the radiator.

See step # 8 for some details: http://www.shotimes.com/php-bin/modules.php?op=modload&name=Ne ws&file=article&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0&sid=93 or take advantage of the search feature here.

I'm almost positive these cars have a cable clutch system with an adjustable quadrant. To adjust it pull up on the clutch pedal and push it down all the way, then release it and repeat the process a couple times. If it adjusted, you'll hear some clicks and the pedal should get a tighter feel.

That reminds me, it seems like my car is hard to go into most every gear and double clutching only seems to help sometimes, so it makes me think the syncro's aren't the problem. I've tried and there's no adjustment to be had in the pedal. I didn't think a bad clutch disc was likely because it still grabs very well, but most times the clutch has to go all the way to the floor for the car to go somewhat easily into gear. Also, Reverse will almost always grind unless I pop it into 4th first. Is any of this normal or do I need a new cable? quadrant? clutch? Thanks.

These are classic symptoms of a worn out pressure plate. Sounds like it's time for a new clutch. You have been saving money in your clutch fund, right? That's "SHO Owning 101". I think it's even in the owners manual. :)

Ain't that the truth! You guys better start shopping around now! OEM are VERY expensive, and assuming that a shop will be doing the job, they may insist on OEM instead of an aftermarket lightweight style.

I just had the "clutch job" done. OEM Clutch, P Plate, TOB, soup to nuts, labor and tax $1,100! eek!

Sorry slosho, but as far as the clutch goes, most owners can expect to get 60-100K per clutch. I paid $800 total parts and labor to have my clutch replaced. Most of the time, you won't have to put more than 2 clutches in a car throughout its life, or about $1600. A far cry short of the ATX with its limited lifespan of about 90-120K+/- and price running about $2800 a pop. My math makes that about $1600 for the MTX over 200K and at least $2800 over the same span with an ATX. I believe that "SHO Owner's Manual" was not quoted to its fullest, "Thou shalt save thy big bucks for thy clutch replacements and thy rebuilt ATXs." I don't know about you, but $1200 is like an extra clutch and a half to me.

Been there, done that. "Sir, your synchros are worn out, a few blocking rings and forward gears need replacing. To do the clutch, it will be the $800 we originally quoted, plus another $1000 to rebuild your MTX." Gee, I don't recall ever asking you to CRACK OPEN THE TRANNY!!!
