Hope this will be an easier and cheaper fix for my similar issues.

ETA: Cheaper than a new clutch I mean.

Received the bushing from SHOSource last night and installed it in 5 minutes or less. A big improvement! My 89 no longer grinds in reverse! Shifting, otherwise, may have seen a very slight improvement. I still get a little notchy resistance going into 1st or 2nd sometimes. I think I either have a few pressure plate fingers worn, or it's just worn internals from a 256k mile tranny.

Either way, the bushing did help and it was worth the $.

Aha, so this is what ShadetreeSHOguy and I have been waiting all month for. Now it looks like we may need a quadrant. Any quick fix to at least get it road-worthy for a quadrant issue? :nut:

I know this post is a bit old but Im having the same problems with MTX except im not missing my bushing. My bushing is still there and strong but if I dont catch first gear before the car completely stops rolling (about 5 mph) I have to shut the car off in order to get it into gear! The other gears are a fight to get into as well and it slams into reverse with grinding? Also some noises when im clutching or not! Any idea what this can be? I know I have to replace the TOB but is this a worn stretched cable or release fork or something? Any ideas? Will help alot guys!
