Ok so I have searched the forum and couldn't find the answer to my question; where should a properly adjusted clutch release at? Mine seems to be all the way to the top, well about1/2 inch from the top. I was told it should be about half of the full travel of the pedal.

Clutch release/engagement on a new clutch should be at least halfway up and alot of times will be very near top of pedal travel. As it wears down it will get closer and closer to the floor. May vary from car to car due to factors like old/new cable, type of clutch put in, etc. Last time I had a new clutch a long with new cable, fork, bushings, flywheel my engagement/disengagement was real close to top of pedal travel. If all seems good except that you should be good.

That's wrong a brand new clutch will release at the bottom. The thicker the clutch disc the more pedal you need to disengage it. The thicker the disc the PP diaphragm has to compress more before it seats to the flywheel so the PP fingers will be further from the throw out bearing. So you need more pedal to reach the fingers or more adjustment. If you have a new clutch and its releasing at the top, then its over adjusted meaning the throwout is already applying some pressure on the PP fingers which could cause slippage. I just put in SHOnut stage 3 a few years ago, it was hard to get used to pushing the pedal further and I have two other discs and flywheels here to check against.

With the SHO auto adjuster, it maybe designed to release ideally in the middle somewhere.
