I read on how to lift up the plastic thing and it worked, but I got like 15 or so clicks. Now I'm wondering if I got it too tight. I thought it would stop after all the slack was gone. You have to push it about 1/2" to 1" then it engages. I like it because I can shift fast, but do I need to back it off or anything?

It came up a little, but searching it looks like most people are only getting like 3-4 clicks.

Thanks

I only do clutch adjustments one click at a time, with a test drive in between. If you think you adjusted it too much, no problem. Just pull up on the pedal and it will automatically go back to where ever it wants to. There is a small pawl on the pedal end of the clutch cable, it sits in the teeth on the blue plastic quadrant. When the pedal is pulled upward the quadrant rotates and forces the pawl against a small ramp. The ramp lifts the pawl up and it seperates from the teeth on the quadrant. The pawl and cable are then seperated from the pedal, and any pressure from the actual clutch pulls the cable back. If your clutch is really worn it will not be able to pull the cable back far enough to do you any good. It's a situation where the needed travel of a worn clutch exceeds the travel available from the swing of the pedal. That, and the pressure fingers are wearing away to nothing inside the clutch.

To adjust the tension on the clutch cable, you only need to pull up on the clutch pedal with about ten pounds of force. The only reason you would need to touch the plastic portion of the ratchet mechanism is if it's not working properly.

So you just put your foot under the clutch pedal and lift up and the tension will become just right?

Sorry but I don't know too much about this topic, I was hoping you could clarify or point me to somewhere I can read about it.

I did the clutch adjustment and it was horrible and I had to adjust it manually, so make sure your adjuster works before you screw with it. In other words dont fix things that arent broken.

Is there a spring that pulls up on that blue piece that can go bad or something? Mine has to be adjusted by hand. I had about 2 inches of slack in the top of the pedal and pulling up on the pedal wouldn't do anything. I finally pulled up on the pedal by hand and pushed the blue piece until it was tight and it turned out much better. Everytime I bump the bottom of the pedal though, I end up with slack and have to readjust it. I will probably swap units with my parts car soon because that one works just fine, unless there is a spring that I can replace that would be easier or something.
Also, I don't get any clicks when I adjust it by hand, I thought it only clicked once after you adjusted it and then only if it needed adjustment?
