Took my sho to my mechanic yesterday, the clunking was worse. He took it for a drive, came back and said that it is the top strut mount. It pushed through the top mount and was hitting the underside of the frame. I'm repalcing it on Tuesday and it cost 60.00 at Napa. Makes me real nervous now that I put on the stiff suspension. He still going to put on the subframe connectors and balnce the wheels on Friday.

'Clunking' Underneathe the Rear

I've had that same problems for a long time now having the 'clunking' underneathe. Not too long ago, I replaced my front and rear sway bar end links. However, the 'clunking' is still there. So this morning, I went ahead and replaced my rear sway bar bushings and guess what...the 'clunking' is gone and everything is quiet. I did not have enough time to replace my front sway bar bushings, but this replacement will come next. It is a relief to know that my strut mounts were not the one making all the noise.

top strut plate is original and the car has 237000 on it. As far as replacing the swaybar bushings, I'll wait till I replace my sway bars.

Okay, this weekend I took all four struts out and looked very carefully. As I suspected, the rear Konis were loose due to not using the sleve that comes with the kit... I seem to remember everything being a bit tighter when I first put it together. Anywho, also replaced the outer tie-rods, upper front mounts, and strut bearings.

WOW!!! I think this kinda goes along with the saying, "Louder cars are faster." "Quieter suspension parts mean you handle better."

I feel a definate change in the handling and the noises are gone.

I also drilled the top strut mounting plates to get rid of some of the camber from lowering the car.

Looks great and handles much better!!
