My 96 SHO has developed a clunk in the left front when driving over bumps. I'm assuming it is a bad strut mount, but ever since I've owned the car it rides like a go-cart, so I'm thinking of replacing all the struts too. I know how expensive the SARC ones are so I'll probably get KYB ones unless someone can tell me what to check on the SARC system. The fuses are good and the car doesn't bounce, but I'm thinking they are still bad? The suspension is VERY stiff and I can't bounce the front of the car at all when it's running.

If I get new struts and mounts does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy them? Any brands other than KYB? What else do I need? Strut bearings? I'm just looking for something that is a decent mix between handling and ride as the stiff ride is just getting to be too much for me in my old age. I'm sure my girlfriend would enjoy riding in my car more if I got it fixed too. I'd appreciate any help.

Get Ford mounts and struts. You don't have to set SARC get struts from later model Taurus. The correct year is in old posts around here. Non-SARC OEM strut prices are not that bad.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm thinking about the 2000+ oem struts and mounts. Is there a good online source for these? I'm not found of the local Ford dealer.
