Can you rejuvenate / regenerate clogged / plugged cats or does the entire Y-pipe need to be replaced?

I have the Performance Plus High Flow cat y-pipe.

Sure you can replace the cats. Just get some universal cats the same size in stainless and your set. Just need some one to cut the old ones out and weld the new ones in.

OK, but where do you buy cats - catalog like J.C. Whitney? or Summit?

I know you can't get them at Pick-U-Part (or whatever it's called), they stopped that awhile ago.

Who should I go to to get have the old ones cut out and the new ones welded in?

A muffler shop? Maybe they have cats and can do everything.

Thanks a lot. This is all new to me.

Any competent repair facility can cut out the old cats and weld in universal replacement cats. Or, you could purchase a new aftermarket y-pipe from an online vendor and have it installed.

I think I have about 100,000 mi (total miles of 302,000 on the '89)

But I think I was negligent :smash: as I was having problem with a rough start and I don't know if my O2 sensors were gone and I was running rich because my CEL is whacky. :bonk:

The CEL comes on intermittently but I don't get any codes. :nut:

I know it's time for a 60K, but I've had a bad spell with employment the last 6 years and I've been struggling to stay afloat and have ignored wires, etc. :frown:

I could shoot myself for being so stupid. :banghd: :cuss:

I don't have the money to put a new SS hi-flow y-pipe in.

Argggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!! :slap:

Thanks for the help. :thumb: :salute:
