Climate Control dash unit

I am new to the forum. I am looking at a 1992 SHO with 93k on it. The price is pretty good and its in clean shape. I do not know what has been done to the car, so I plan on having the 60k service done on it as a precaution.

The only thing I could find that was an issue for me was the climate control dash unit does not work....no display and broken buttons. I think this is a common problem for these cars, yeah? I cannot seem to be able to find any place to order a new one or even find how much they cost or how easy it is to change it out.

Any help would be useful. Thanks!

I have an extra hard button EATC unit if you're interested. They're real easy to replace.

Just pull the trim bezel off the dash and the EATC is mounted to the dash with 4 screws. Then disconnect the vacuum and electrical connections. Install new unit.

I just purchased a 92 MTX and I have the same problem. Except that my EATC still works, but the buttons are all worn. The previous owner picked up a newer hard-button EATC, but he said that it did not work when he installed it and never worried about it again. Any chance someone knows if this EATC will work?

Number on the side is as follows: P1F5VH-19C933-AF WHITE

I believe it is out of a 95-97 Lincoln Towncar. Will this work?

I don't believe the lincoln ones will work even though they look the same! Try to find one out of a 95 SHO so you will have the hard buttons!

Anyone have a link on a hard button Climate control?

Mine is *****'d. Buttons worn and the blower controls dont work anymore. PO routed it to a switch in the dash, and now i only got full blast blower and no auto controls. I would really like to get this unit working again.

if you want one , post in the WANT TO BUY (WTB) section. Theres also ebay , shosource and maybe RCM. The last 2 are official shoforum vendors.

In answer, yes this is a common problem and as you can see a lot of people are looking for a hard button climate control (as am I). Sometimes you can go on craigslist (or rarely ebay) and find people who are parting out SHO's that have hard button climate controls. Otherwise, the wanted to buy section is a good place to go.
