Has anyone else had a clicking noise come from the tesion strut bushing (the one that goes thru the subframe)? I think that is where the clicking is coming from, but I wanted to get another opinion before replacing it.

Clicking is usually more indicative of a failing CV joint. Bad bushings usually manifest as a rubbing, squeaking, or clunking noise.

I would agree...but it only does it when I hit the brakes and the nose dives down. It doen't do it while driving, or while going around corners. It also doesn't do it while in reverse. I can "feel" the click (and it is only one loud click) in the bar as the wife did a few panic stops in the drive while I was laying under the car touching the bar and trying to figure it out. ( eek! I know...I had a huge block between me and the tire). I just wondered if anyone lese had this same thing happen since thhose bushings look like they would need replaced at least once if you were driving a 94 or older.

I get that noise under acceleration and braking - another post here indicated that it's the subframe bushing. I have yet to get it fixed, but am going to take it in soon.

I too get that popping sound when I accelerate or slow down. Since as stated above its probably the subframe bushing; but my question----is it because my SHO has never had the subframe bolt recall done or is it making sound just because of worn out bushings? shrug

Speaking of the recall, how do I check if mine was done? Can I just go to a dealer and have them tell me what recalls were performed?

I called the dealership and gave the service manager my VIN # and he ran a check on the computer to see if any reacall work was done.

I am certain it's the tesion strut bushing, I had it apart and can see how worn the bushing is. It's actually making contact with the frame (since the bushing is worn). New bushing will be here next week and I'll do a driveway replacement.

I just called mine and they said I have no outstanding recalls...wonderful. Any clue how much this costs to get fixed?

NG,

1) The recall is NOT for the subframe bushings, it is for the nuts and bolts that hold the rear of the subframe to the body.

2) The recall is not in effect for California. A post in the last few days gave the exact text of the recall. Please find it and read it so you are aware of what it actually is.

Depending on where the car was originally sold or registered after that also would have effected the recall status of you car. As posted previously check the previous posts, it's all in there.
