I did a search, but found no postings on this subject. I have a problem with the clearcoat peeling, mainly on the hood and several other small spots elsewhere. Is there any way to repair these without a major repaint? Thanks for any help possible. :salute:

seems to be a common problem especially down south in that hot sun
you could get another hood off a red car, it might not match perfect but its better than peeling clear coat

Yup, by the time you sand off all the loose clearcoat, you will have sanded through the color in places, so the 'right' way to do it is to just sand it off, repaint color, then repaint clear.

I have managed to touch up quarter panels without repainting the color coat, but you always see a difference between the 'old' clear and the 'new' clear - the 'old' stuff isn't really clear any more, so it shows up as a tone/shade difference....which means it would turn out crappy to try that on a hood.

I agree.. I paint cars for a side job thing.. it can be done to scuff the hood or wherever its peeling and go over that area. But like it was mentioned.. youll be able to tell.. might look kinda goofy.

OR come to me! And ill paint your whole car for cheap cheap!
