Cleaning the engine bay

Before I do the 60K, I'd like to clean the engine bay. Any of you had problems with the car after using the canned engine degreaser products? I've got a bunch of Gunk foamy engine cleaner to clean the bottom (because it's cheap) and a can or two of Pennzoil Steam Premium to clean the top (because it smells nice). I've used the Steam Premium on other cars with no problems, following the directions (spray onto *hot* engine, let soak 15 minutes, scrub the nasty spots with a brush, then hose off).

I'd like to hear about both problems and success with cleaning the engine compartment. Thanks!
