Hey gang,

I would venture to say that many SHO owners would love to fix up their old rusty subframes. I know it will make me feel a whole lot better about my car once I finish this project.

Drive train removed from parts car:
DSCN6425

Cleaning the sub-frame with Super Clean, cookies and wire brushes:
DSCN6505

Primered sub-frame:
DSCN6506

I'll put a few coats of satin black on it when the weather breaks here.

The plan:
1. Replace sub-frame and sub-frame bushings on my 95 ATX (hopefully upgrading to aluminum solid bushings).
2. Swap out the transmission with a rebuilt spare.
3. Replace engine and transmission mounts.
4. Replace rocker cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets, main seals, timing belt and
crank sensor while the engine is out of the car.

Anything I should add to that list that might be missing?
Has anyone had any experience with re-working the stock torque convertors?

Thanks!

I know, I'd love too! Gotta find the parts though. And what do you mean by "IV" in MTX IV? Is there an upgraded trans or something?

this is coming from someone who just blew their MTX-IV... :nut: :bonk:

Yeah I read your thread right after I posted mine. I like the red subframe but I'm gonna opt for a more subtle color. ;-) I also just read about the strut rod bushing mount problems and I'm thinking about adding some strength to mine before I put the black on.

Thanks!

Edit: oh yeah and nice job on the trans!

Rod bearings at 120k? Hmmm, I drove the 93 to 160k without touching any of the internals and it still runs great.

I'm at 170,300 on my original ATX ;). It's held up to races, and driving fast, and even endured sitting in traffic for 11 years.
