Hi everyone.

I just replaced the CID (yay for me) and I would like to thank you all for the former posts which directed me on how to replace it.

I replaced the CPS, timing belt, water pump and thermostat last December, and sometimes the tach takes a second to get up to speed when the car is started or can stay down for a few secs/minutes. The car runs smooth however, and I have checked the DIS connections to make sure they are tight.

Would a dying alternator cause this?

Is your battery light on? Does your altenator whine? If not then your altenator is fine. You might want to invest in an aftermarket tach.

Probably just the tach movement getting old and sticking.

As suggested, an after market tach is likely in store.
