Hey Guys... i'm changing out (or trying at least) my rear cam seal which is located behind the CID Sensor.(ATX) Here's what i've done so far.
1. Removed crossover tube for access.
2. Unplugged sensor.
3. Removed screws that hold CID to the mounting ring.
4. Removed two small phillips screws to take out the little ring inside.
Now... i'm stuck.

Looking down on that area... there are two 10mm bolts which i've removed. and on the face of that assembly, there are two tiny little bolts which i've removed. What is the next step. The search function hasn't been able to help. and is this CID assembly different on a MTX?

Thanks for the help.

I just replace that seal myself. I think you are seeing the 2 bolts that holde tha CID sensor housing in place, remove those and the housing should pull off. I had to tap it a little with a drift and a hammer to get it to come loose. In theory you should then be able to drill a small hole in the seal and remove it with a screw. I messed with it for a while and then just pulled the intake and rear cam cover to expose the end cam bearing/cap. I unbolted the cap (which exposed the top of the seal), popped out the old seal, popped in the new seal and I was home free. No leaks so far.

Thanks for the info... well well well... i got the housing off and was able to pick out the old seal. using the 1 1/2 pice of pvc pipe, i pushed in the new seal and re-assembled... Problem... it leaks more now. Anyone know how far the seal needs to go for a good seal? i tried prying in the new seal but it just feels like it won't go further! Maybe i should remove the rear cover... ugh.

Shaun,

I was checking out my cam seal tonight, and it looks like mine may be leaking a little bit too. headbang Then I got to thinking... could it be the rear cam cover seal that's leaking? I'm going to pull out my CID the next time I get a chance (upper 60k time) and check it out. When you pull your CID off tomorrow, make sure that it is in fact that seal that is leaking before you go and rip it out... thumb

By the way, I was thinking, the CID on the MTX is the same, isn't it? Because when I removed mine, I took off the CID housing with the CID, I didn't remove those two small screws on the CID itself (they were rusted). Anyways just FYI.

Let me know how it goes... you're in my thoughts bro!

And get those O2s done!!! burnout
