Looking at some OEM exterior accessories. What do you guys think about these chrome caps as an accent to the chrome window trim on my Burgundy 2018? The car is already dark and I don't really want it murdered out with window tint. Trying to keep it really sleeper like stock.

Out of curiosity do any of you using a plug on the fuel? Seems like a pain to use a key but these days I don't know if its a good safety measure. Most cars have a lock on the fuel door and I'm surprised this higher end car doesn't. https://accessories.ford.com/locking-fuel-plug.html

I hated the chrome mirror caps. Spent about 200 bucks ordering new paintable ones and having them painted at the body shop. Chrome mirrors just don’t belong on an SHO to me, but if you like them, go for it. It’s easy enough to switch back if you don’t like it.

It’s not easy to siphon gas out of newer cars. You can’t get anything bigger than aquarium tubing down the spout so I don’t think there’s a big threat of fuel theft.

Didn't know that about the syphon .Likely not worth it the hassle of a key .

Was it too much chrome you didn't like or did they just look weird?

Definitely not a fan of the chrome either. However, I do wish I could find some led signal mirror caps like I installed on my Lexus. I feel like it's a big oversight on Ford's part. All cars have had signal mirrors for years.

I just couldn’t get over the fact they weren’t supposed to be there. The SHO has had black mirrors since the first one I saw in 1989, so it just bugged me having them “wrong.” The previous owner had installed the ones on mine, so I couldn’t just swap back, either. I looked for a set of black ones for months before having new ones painted. He probably threw the black ones in the garbage. Lol

Here’s a pic before I swapped them, so you be the judge. 63B89C01 C66F 4C82 B57D 0F30F77ECF09

Thank you for the pic . I see what you mean about being out of place. The chrome doesn't make sense when you see it on the full car.

Shortly after I got my sho, I came across somebody who had their sho keyed and he found the fuel door open with a bunch of sugar around the area. I immediately got a plug just for piece of mind. I got an oem plug on ebay relatively inexpensive. Yes, it's an annoyance but I live with it.

My message didn't attach to post above.

Anyway, I prefer to avoid a locking gas cap and take my chances with vandalism...that's what insurance is for. If it was a locking gas DOOR, then that would be different. I have a locking gas cap on my motorhome and it's a pita.

I added a locking cap and it’s very easy to use not like some of the older style locking gas caps. Just have to turn the key 90 degrees.

The one on my moho is the same, but I still hate it. It's nice not to have to carry keys anymore. But I guess you could just leave the key in the glovebox.
