We are getting a chirping noise that is emanating from the timing belt tensioner but we have replaced it and still have the noise. We are beginning to think it might be in the engine behind it. Could this noise be caused by the oil pump going bad? We put a new tensioner in and still have the noise and when you put a stethoscope on the bolt /nut that holds it on, you can hear the noise clearly. Any ideas. It is not the the accessory pulley or the water pump making the noise. It has not affected any of the performance at this point.

Sounds like either the tensioner wasn't properly tensioned or the nut is too tight on the stud.

Daryl found the problem. The main sprocket for the timing belt had become worn and the woodrift key had some over the top wear. We are lucky we caught it before it took the motor out. Replacing the sprocket gear, key and maybe the main pulley. That should take care of it. Thanks for you input
