Hello everyone! I have a 2013 non PP, bone stock, daily driven. Recently it has developed a "chirp" under the hood at idle. It sounds as if it's coming from the passenger side (accessory side) of the motor. Upon inspection the belt looks good, & I just did a coolant flush which came out clean. However, the a/c compressor has what appears to be a yellowish/amber colored liquid dripping from it.

My question is: Is this a symptom of a failing a/c compressor, or could this liquid (and possibly the chirp) be originating from somewhere else?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

If your coolant is yellow, the water pump weep hole is above the compressor. You will usually see it on the compressor when the water pump starts to leak. You may have a sweet smell from that general area too.

You can see the water pump weep hole if you take the engine cover off and look down at the engine front cover above the alternator. There is a "freeze plug" cap with a hole above? It that is the weep hole for the water pump

You can grab a stethoscope from harbor freight or somewhere similar to help you find the noise.

Coolant is of the "orange" flavor, plus liquid had a little viscosity to it like an oil. I'll pull the cover this weekend and take a look. Hopefully it's not the pump.

Thanks for the response!

Mine had a chirp when I first started the car every day, went away after a few minutes of driving. It ended up being the belt tensioner.

Possibly PAG oil from the compressor?

With a sigh of relief, I did not find any coolant seeping from the pump & that entire area is dry!

With that said, we had weather in the upper forties this weekend & the chirp disappeared. Let's see if it returns when the temp drops again.

As for the PAG, do you know if it's clear in color or does Ford add a dye? The leak seems to stem from where the 2 parts of the a/c compressor case bolt together (just behind the pulley). So maybe the color is just grime it's picking up & my compressor is leaking?

Good to hear the pump isn't at fault. It's very posible the belt or tensioner are failing as described

Yes our cars do have dye in them from.the factory that will show under u.v. light. Usually the oil has a more green tint to it, but it is very posible the compressor is leaking page oil.
