Cruise control just quit working. Cable to TB is connected, fuse is OK.Can't find any vacuum lines to cruise control module. Am I blind or missing something? Pulled out seven wire connector to module. Inside was coated with odorless oily substance. Assuming dielectric grease. Can anyone tell me how to check the cruise control module?

Anything else I can check here like brake pressure switch that cuts off cruise when brakes applied? If so where is it located.

Also, read where horn and cruise switch have same ground. Horn works fine with key on as well as off. Brake light operate properly

Realize VSS may be culprit but have no idea how to approach that except a trip to the shop.

Appreciate any help you can give me

Wondering if strange "shudder" I experienced on recent trip could be associated with cruise going out.1200 miles w/o cruise is really ******* the old right foot! BTW no check engine light for either problem. Will be checking TPS voltage today on TPS per previous advice.

I am having a problem with my cruise control also. I was cruising along at 75 mph with the cruise control on and then it just shut off. I was like ummmmm ok. So i tried to enable it. Nothing. Finally I tried it again and it worked. No idea. lol.

WHLAV,

Check to see if the cruise unit is getting current. If I remember right there are a series of prescribed tests in the shop manual (or chiltons, Motor, Mitchels, etc at the library).

Then determine what test can be done to determine if the failure is in the "clockspring". The failure of devices controlled at the steering wheel are frequently because of a clockspring failure.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but I'm away from my resources. Like ole Willy, I'm on the road again. rangerj
