EGR Issues

Lately, my CEL comes on a block from my house & sometimes goes off about 10 mins after driving. It seems to run fine

It is a 93 with 57500 Miles on it. It was Grandpa driven since new

Where should I start? Is it time for the Expensive 60K?

Please help

I checked the codes and I got a 336-PFE Sensor is/was High.
I searched this forum & Showtimes and found that I more than likely need to clean the EGR passages in the Intake. Since it is free, it is worth a try.

I am just not exactly sure how much of the intake I need to remove to clean them.

Anybody have any pics?

Thanks

An easy way to determine if the passage ways are clogged or if you need a new DPFE sensor is to remove the vaccumm line that feed the EGR valve. connect a hand vaccumm pump or just a piece of vaccumm tube. Start the car and apply a small amount of vaccumm to the eger vavle to open it. If the car drops its idle and nearly dies than the passageways are fine and yoyu need a new sensor, if not than on to cleaning the passageways.

OK so I stalled out the car by manually actuating the EGR valve. I can feel vaccuum from the supply line.

Looks like I need a DPFE sensor. :frown: & I sprung an oil leak.

I checked the manual & it calls the DPFE an EGR Transducer. Are they the same thing?

Now I truly understand the meaning of SHO
