It's probably just an O2 sensor. Heck, you've replaced all the expensive stuff already, so don't give up yet!

The 02 sensors are cheap. May as well give those a shot before selling it. Replace them both. I'll bet your CE light goes away.

To be sure, I'd check the codes, or have a Ford technician do it for you, though it doesn't sound as though you have a competent one around. But I'd almost guarantee it's the O2's. They fail frequently and are probably the #1 cause for a CE light.

Good luck.

MY CEL came on again tonight, I'm thinking it's the O2'(s) as well, it'll come on for a few minutes and then go out, the car runs exactly the same (great) when the light's on.

Edit: Bessadok26, mine came form WPB too, cool!

Check codes first! Use this forum and search or ask. Unless you have a ford mech that has a SHO save your money. 111k miles it is almost broken in. Tell us more on how the light is coming on. Many little things cause CEL that don't need action now. If the CEL doesn't make it run bad don't panic. Some real smart and seasoned folks on this forum.

Many, if not all, Auto Zone parts stores will read your codes for free.
Call your local auto Zone and see if they will do this for you if you do not know how. The check engine light is triggered when the computer does not get the signal it is programmed to expect from one or more sensors. A sensor may have failed or there may be a poor connection or a grounded or shorted wire from the sensor to the computer. As Steve says, check your codes and they will give us a clue as to what is triggering the CEL.

And whatever you do, DON'T let the idiots at AutoZone try to diagnose it for you. 98% of them don't have the experience or training to do so. Are you feeling lucky that you might have gotten a member of the 2% remaining?

A couple of months ago, when my CE intermittenly came on, I went to 4 autozone's to have my codes pulled. All of which declined the ability to pull them because they could only pull codes for OBD-II cars. Idiots.

Back on topic, as stated above, pull your codes. All you need is a paper clip, and it can be done using the procedure at this site. . . http://www.shophoenixproject.com/eec/eec.htm
