Ok first thing is first i just picked up a 92 opel frost it is in realy nice shape only one rust spot the size of a quarter on the passanger side rear wheel well and only has 127000 and a new clutch that has 500 miles on it.

But back to this engine light it is reall stating to bug me. It goes on and off when it wants to and as you know you can not check a code while the car is on. But it will come on for a few miles then shuts off, then come back on, and then off, but when it is on and you turn the car off and then turn it back on to just the dummy light to scan it will not come on, until you drive for about 5 miles or so.... any ideas.

problem 2 the tranny is super f-ing hard to shift and grinds some times and them some times not ( and no cracks saying i do not know how to operaite a clutch i have only owned 2 automatics that i drove around) i was thinking either syncros or just fluid.. or the clutch was not installed properly... what do you think

but let me know your feedback what you think but tomorrow i am doing a 120k to it with all new fluids. but for now let me know cause i can not sleep cause it is driving me up the wall.. thanks:thankyou:

Sammy, back when i had the green 92, i would always have problems grinding into 2nd gear. I changed the fluid in it to GM syncromesh, after about 500 miles it shifted like butter. Could be your issue, maybe not. But worth a shot to just change the fluid instead of the whole trans.

Well, it is >GM< Syncromesh. So no. But, i think the pensoil is supposed to be close to the same thing.

The check engine light going on and off from time to time is typical symptom of o2 sensors going bad. However, *any* time the cel is illuminated, it will store a code. If you pull codes correctly, you will retrieve those stored codes and be able to confirm the thing its complaining about.

When my CEL kept coming on constantly when i was driving, the 02 sensors were one of the codes. I replaced them and cleared the code and everything is good now. Change the 02's and I bet your gas mileage will also improve.

IIRC the trans needs 3.1 quarts. So you have to buy 4, but if your just puling the alignment pin to drain, it will be more like 2 or 2.5.

Joe do you know where i can get it with out going to the stealership and paying 15 bucks a qt

Check Fleet, they may have it. They carried what was hard to find Mobil1 0w-40 a few years ago and it was cheaper than the 2 auto stores that had it and neither had more than 5 qts. on hand when I needed 8.5 for my truck. Fleet had a huge pallet full of cases and singles on the shelf. More places have it now, but Fleet is still cheapest.
