So, I have a 93 ATX that runs really good but it gets really bad gas mileage most of the time. It has 5 codes. One is EGR but it also has a 173, 177, 179, and 188.
-hego system rich (rh)
-he go system rich (lh)
-adaptive fuel lean limit reached (rh)
-adaptive fuel lean limit reached (lh)

I'm guessing it's the o2 sensors but I think it's kind of wierd that it has a hego rich code and an adaptive fuel lean code. Any input would be very helpful

The gurus will know right off the bat, but to my understanding, it means that the PCM has reached the limits of how much it can lean out the a/f mix to compensate for what the O2 sensors are saying is a rich condition.

Assuming of course you don't have leaky fuel injectors, replacing both O2 sensors and cleaning the MAF should get you back in good shape. It would also be advisable to clean the throttle body and EGR "nostrils", as plenty of buildup tends to occur past the throttle body due to the PCV setup. What is the EGR code? The EGR problem might be resolved this way, or there might be an actual DPFE issue (which may also be clogged BTW).

The codes make perfect sense. The oxy sensors are reporting the mixture is rich. The pcm is adjusting the mixture more lean to fix that, and has adjusted the mixture as far lean as allowed but the oxy sensors are still reporting the mixture rich.

It is possible that this is a oxy sensor issue, but typically they fail in the other direction. It is more likely that you have one or more injectors that are not shutting off properly that is causing the mixture to be rich.

Does it have a flooding problem on restart? Do you see gas washing into the oil?

If the oxy sensors are over 75k miles, I would replace them as preventative, but I don't really expect that to solve your problem.

It starts really well everytime. I dont think its flooding. How do i tell if gas is flushing into the oil? And I really don't have any idea. I bought the car recently with little to no history. The o2 sensors look crappy. But the thing runs really good. Powerful acceleration. It smells like fuel sometimes, but the code doesn't come on right away either. It usually takes a while to pop up until it gets warmed up then it will pop up a minute or so after starting.
Oh and the egr code is the 332 egr valve not opening

Oil looks good, smells normal. I just drove it in medium traffic (part cruising, part stop and go) for 20 minutes. Ran great, got decent mileage, no CEL. Turned it off, sat for 5 minutes, started and drove 5 minutes and the CEL came on. Also the temp guage has been getting up to 3/4 and almost to the end of the normal on the Guage but when you open the hood everything is normal temp, but that doesn't really have to do with this
