I bought 2 used Snap on torque wrenches on ebay. They are the best ones I've ever used and I don't plan on replacing them.

I had broken two of the cheaper, 150 lb-ft torque wrenches from Harbor Freight trying to remove the hub nuts and needed a real tool that could handle the job. It has been well worth the investment.

You were removing hub nuts with a torque wrench? That's probably what killed it.

But when you break a Husky and take it back to HD for a replacement...

...Only then do you realize your folly.

They don't replace them on the spot. They ship em back to Husky. And you get to wait for 2+ weeks.

Harbor Freight isn't a great place for quality tools, but their lifetime hand-tool warranty is usually serviced by a quick glance at the failed part and a hand motion in the direction of the shelf containing the replacement. Very easy. I've no idea whether a torque wrench qualifies as a "hand tool", but they've replaced other stuff for me without any question.

Copy that. Torque wrenches weren't really designed to remove fasteners.

For the hub nuts, I use a 1/2" Craftsman ratchet with half of a jack handle on the end as a cheater bar.

And that's because you're not suppose to use a torch wrench, or any ratcheting wrench, as a breaker bar . . . , that's what breaker bars are for . . . .

:oogle:

I get out my 2-ft Craftsman breaker bar. If that doesn't work, I get out my Harbor Frieght 1/2" drive 25-in breaker bar. If that didn't work, the socket is usually broken and I cuss myself for not using better-quality impact sockets. As a matter of fact, just last wednesday I broke a 19mm impact socket I purchased at Menards, the fourth impact socket I've destroyed . . . .
