Hello again,

After cleaning my iac and it not helping with my chugging problem, I am now on to the fuel filter. I dont know if it has ever been changed or if it has when it was last changed. All I know is it is a cheep part that dosent hurt to replace and might help my problem.

I want to know is there anything special I need to do to replace the filter, like depressurizing the system (which I have never done) or any precautions to take to loose less fuel and correctly replace the filter.

I am starting to accept the fact that I probably have a bad or going bad fuel pump but Im just trying to rule out other factors that might be the problem before doing the fuel pump because from what I understand it is more of a tricky fix than a fuel filter exchane is.

thanks once again,
Kyle

Let the car sit for a while then remove the gas cap that will relieve fuel pressure. There are two clips for the fuel filter and a hose clamp some gas will come out it is normal then put the new filter in make sure the arrow points the correct way and put new plastic clips on the fuel lines. It is very easy to do.

LOL.. I shoulda read this last night... I'm lazy.. I just put a clean pan under it, and yanked the hoses.. :)

I will say this car I have now, has a really good check valve in it! :) Also.. does everyone have to "fight" that thing in there? I can't ever seem to get it in there very easy.. always seems like I'm fighting that bracket.. anyway.. I got mine in.. :)

on top of all the above things you could use a rage and depress the schrader valve that is accessible on the intake. Prepare to get gas on yourself and on the ground

Put a fuel pressure tester on it and bleed it off into a bottle... Then light the bottle on fire in the street later.
