SP542 is currently being tested by a few brave souls, 1 heat range colder. Tuned applications, of course.

Ive been running the sp-542 @30 for about 8 months with no issues.
It seemed to help with KR events from winter gas. And now with summer gas here KR is non existent. I haven’t logged through SCT just going by my min/max
on torque.

I did the exact same thing last month! The 542 are more expensive - not a lot more, but all you need is the 534.

I used the 534 hint for those of you looking to change plugs. AutoZone sells a spark plug socket 5/8" that has the extension built in to the extension. Built in as in it wont fall out during removal or cause the plug to slip off. Around $20 if I remember correctly but can be used on pretty much any vehicle.

Note #2: For the back bank of plugs this socket and extension comes in very handy and has a knuckle joint to give a little movement of the extension.

Note #3: Removing the strut tower cross brace will make it much easier for the back three plugs. Just loosen set aside one at a time and the rear bank in my case literally only took about 5-10 minutes. There is enough room between the firewall and the cylinder head with this socket extension. You can get a 3/8 wrench on the socket extension and get enough torque to break free. After a few turns you should be able to get the rest by hand.

Note #4: I recommend anti-seize on the threads and Die electric grease on the plug head. a small drop just enough to make contact when you install the coil pack.

I only have about 30K on the 534s but these little tips will make even the rear bank of the cylinder head seem like child's play.

I want to say that removing one at a time, marking for wear assessment and replacing took a little under 45 minutes.

It is a dedicated socket and extension but not totally dedicated to one vehicle. It should git any vehicle that has the 5/8" spark plug socket. This purchase would definitely be a multi purpose. I will be dusting it off again soon for my 2015 Expedition plug replacement.

Forgive my ignorance, but is there any added benefit to going to the LMS colder plug with no tune (yet) and just an airaid CAI?

No, and if you do more research a drop in K&N will do just as good at any CAI.
