Ok if everbody has been keeping up on the posts about my red 95. I posted a few weeks back that my sho died on me after i got on it.. in a middle of a tornado warning. And then it wouldn't start back up.. so i had to have my dad pull it home. So we get it home still won't start. So my brother said lets check the fuel pressure. We turn the ign on and hit the fuel pressure valve with a screw driver. Hardly any fuel came out. So we compared it to the silver bullet. (My silver sho) And my silver one shot fuel up a lot higher then the red one. So we all thought it was the fuel pump. And thats what everybody on the forum thought too! Well today my dad got a hair up his but to help me change the fuel pump. So we got it all done and installed. But i didn't get to drive it cause i had to get to work. Well i come home and dad says it drives great.... I said did u get into it. .. open it up any. He said yeah a little. Well after dinner i got in it. i pull out of the drive way just kind of creeping along at 15mph and then i punch it. IT DIES! i'm like omg i saw this coming. So i push it back home. Luckly i was only a few houses away from mine. And when i get it back in the drive way dad asks will it start. It will turn over.. you can hear the fuel pump. It will turn over. start for a few secs pop and crap and then die. but if u keep on it for a few mins or let it sit. It will start up better and run for a few more secs. And if u give it gas to keep it running it will come out of it's wanting to die crap. But when it can idle by it's self and stay started, and when you rev it up it is really rough. And slughish. And you can smell that it is running rich. O and here is the kicker. When we took the old fuel pump out. It was a walbro unit! And the one i just got was a Holley (Aka walbro) From spMotor sports. So the pump has already been replaced once! So i'm thinking it is a ign thing now. Or i was thinking maybe it was the CID or CPS. Cause my sho dies and then it has a hard time starting back up. But my tach does read after my sho dies. reads about 300. So if any body has any ideas please post!! :hail:

Thanks

I'd continue down the fuel issue path. Try checking the fuel pressure again, and if at all possible use a gauge to find out exact numbers. How old is the fuel filter?

If you can smell that the car is running rich you really should get a fuel pressure tester and find out exactly what it's running. You might as well check for codes as well, although you might not find anything useful. Have you ever replaced the IAB valve or cleaned it?

Yeah when the car was drivable after i got the crank cancer fixed the CE light would come on for a few and then go off. And keep doing that. I did clean the IAB out when i had the intake off when was fixing the crank cancer. So it is clean i know that. But i can't drive it any where to get the codes pulled... It will proabbly die on me before i get to my local Crap auto zone. lol :D

Get a gauge and test the fuel pressure properly. You may have a bad FPR.

EDIT: And, ummm, the ATX IAC's are NOT cleanable. Every one I've seen someone try to clean has been destroyed by the carb cleaner "melting" the plastic inside the valve.

Who much pressure should there be coming from the pump? And where is the Fuel pressure reglator at on the sho? Never really herd about people replacing them on the sho before...

The fuel pressure regulator failing is actually a commonly overlooked problem and will result in low fuel pressure if the diaphram has collapsed. It will also result in a rich running (and odd running) engine as the fuel is being pulled in by vacuum.

The FPR is located on the front fuel rail, passenger side, and has a vacuum line going to it.

Big bucks, IIRC they're obsolete now though you may still be able to find one new somewhere.

I got one from FPN last year, it was under $100.

You need to find out what the problem is first, and not just throw parts at the car.

In regards to your IAB, I had similar problems with the engine cutting out on me and on most occassion have a high idle. I tried to clean my IAB on my 95 SHO with no significant difference. I went ahead and bought a brand new IAB and the problem went away. I guess not all IAB's can be cleaned properly. That is what happened on my end. Good Luck.

FYI I've never cleaned an IAB and had it work better than when I started. I've replaced every single one that has given me problems after I tried cleaning... Good luck.

You mention the replaced fuel pump was a Walbro and conclude the original pump would have been replaced. When I changed the fuel pump in my 1989, the original pump was a Walbro and am sure it was the original pump as I bought it new.

Yes, the original pump is a Walbro. Its got a Ford Part Number on it as well, but my stock pump was a walbro. Every stock SHO came factory with one, I believe.
