I can't believe the last time I did it took me so long. I was dreading it since I got it. ****, I even mowed my lawn before I did it I was dreading it so bad.

Granted I've had it apart in December to change the ball joints, but that doesn't mean anything with the ball joints. I saw the boot was split from a thin spot on the boot itself while I was in there.

It ended up taking me an hour and a half from start to test drive. Sometimes working on these cars is easy as can be.

That balljoint can be a pain. I've broken two quality pitman arm pullers on them so far.

I think the axle's are probably easier than changing out other things, such as the ball joint (considering you have to take the whole damn hub off), but if you keep car in good shape and don't let crap rust, nothing is too hard.

I replaced both my balljoints on my 99 last week, using a $35 harbor frieght ball joint kit, a deep well 32mm socket, a 1/8' thick steel washer around the size of a 1/2 dollar and a 1/2 drive impact.
Why are you using a pitman arm puller?
I'm not trying to sound like a smarta$$, just curious.

It's easier to press the balljoint out with it. Slide it on and thread the shaft on to the ball joint stud. Turn and turn and turn and it usually pops out. Sometimes it breaks in my case.

I didn't have to take it any further apart then I did to change the axle to change my balljoints.

Mine is already in the air, but I'll time it when I replace my axle in a couple of weeks.

I'm thinking I'll come in under 30 minutes with hand tools.

*edit*
Dammit... posting in the Gen 3 forums again... nevermind me.
